    Grade:

Numbers:   6 max including leaders (restricted by campsite limits)

Trailers: Yes, full Australian made only. No caravans as not permitted on Central Arnhem Road.

    What:

Base camping at Nhulumbuy and Lorella Springs.

At Nhulumbuy you will have the option to partake in day trips or to do your own thing.

Lorella Springs will be a mixture of day trips and overnight stays to the more remote locations on the property or you may want to relax in the thermal pools at base camp instead.

Nhulumbuy and Lorella Springs base camps include full amenities along with options to purchase meals. The remaining camp sites range from no facilities to full facilities.

As Nhulumbuy and its surrounds become more popular along with its low number of campsites we have been advised to book asap. Areas outside of the township are controlled by the Dhimurru Aboriginal Corporation and such require a permit to access including their campsites which attract additional fees, both are nonrefundable and nontransferable.

    Minimum fuel range required 550km.

If there is enough interest, we can hold a meeting to run through the itinerary and answer any questions.

You can contact Michael directly for a more detailed itinerary.

A second group of 6 can run parallel if numbers require.

The Club has been asked to help out at the National 4X4 show. This is coming up very soon on the Friday-Sunday 22nd-24th of July. The show is purely 4X4, not like the larger show in September.

We have been offered a free stand, indoors 3m x 3m, to display our club, as is usual for a show. in addition Volunteers are are sought for:-

Garage Talks ........ similar in style to a chat over a beer or two. relaxed sharing knowledge about "Tips on preparing for a trip - local NSW and/or iconic trips". This might include route planning, vehicle preparation, permits, safety, communication. etc

Test Track ........... There will be a track of some kind. It will be in use by various exhibitors  eg Jayco, Fulcrum for some of the day. In between, the organisers are hoping for club members to man the circuit and drive people round in our vehicles. Further, they are hoping for some demonstrations of recovery techniques eg winches, straps, Maxtrax.

Bush Mechanics ......... Here the show is hoping for some 15-minute topics on how to keep your fourbie going when things go wrong bush. eg puncture repairs, split hoses, coolant leaks, belt failure, suspension breakages, bush welding. The idea is to elaborate on one topic rather than all in one go.

Please come and help out for a few hours and get free entry to the Show!

Please select your preferred days and shifts when you register so we can put together a roster for all the activities. Although the Garage and Bush Mechanic stands may seem daunting, the depth of experience in our club is huge, maybe tackle it with a mate.

A classic Central Australian trip allowing plenty of time to absorb the sights and sounds of the desert in winter, with time to do other activities. Overnight camps in bush campsites, mostly with no facilities.

Trip starts in Noccundra then spends a few days in the Innamincka area seeing the sights including Coongie Lakes. To Birdsville via Cordillo Downs, over Big Red and across the sand dunes. After entering the NT we turn north and follow the Hay River Track across the Simpson Desert for 5 nights before we stop at Batton Hill Camp where we have time for the Bush Tucker Tour. Up to Jervois and along the Plenty to Gemtree with optional fossicking. On to Ruby Gap where we have a day for a bushwalk or fossicking. Then west to end in Alice Springs after 18 days.

Some campsites will need to be booked and paid before we leave, on advice from the trip leader after you are confirmed for the trip.

A free permit from the CLC is required to enter the Indigenous areas, plus there is a permit and $220 fee to drive the Hay River Track. There will be other expenses for activities and camping along the way. Permits and payment will be coordinated through the trip leader.

You will be expected to be Covid-vaccinated to the highest possible extent to come on this trip. Also state Covid Border Crossing Passes may be needed as we travel from NSW - QLD - SA - QLD - NT, so you will need to meet all border crossing requirements at the time of the trip.

The Rydal Showground is this year’s venue for our mass club camp out.

The weekend is intended for the entire club from the weekend warriors to the long distance travellers. The Showground has plenty of room for tents, swags, trailers and Taj Mahal roll ons. There are WCs and showers. Rather not camp? Then the pub is a short walk away. The site hall is available to party if the weather is inclement.

Come along to relax and socialise with mates or new friends. Eat, drink, or just do your own thing. Rydal is also a great spot for those that want to do some driving. There will be several groups depending on demand. This could be tarmac day tours, C grade tracks, B grade on  the infamous Mt Walker and Firetruck hill.?

Make it a long weekend and arrive Friday. The Showground is booked for Friday and Saturday night.

    What:"

This is very much an expression of interest at the moment (please use waitlist to register interest). We have been emailing the traditional custodian with a view to coordinating a trip in 2024. Participants would need at least a couple of weeks either side of these rough dates to get to and from Sydney.

"15 Days in the most pristine, untouched Kimberley wilderness with the toughest 4wd touring around. This is Australia’s best 4wd touring adventure. Help put in the track after the wet season, swim in amazing gorges, camp with no one around for hundreds of kilometers and catch more barramundi than you know what to do with!"

To see what it's all about, have a look at the 4wd 24/7 YouTube channel:

    Part 1: https://youtu.be/bgk66lQTisY

    Part 2: https://youtu.be/gvRoFTcMKMY

    Part 3: https://youtu.be/3etMOIo9eW8

    Part 4 (bonus content): https://youtu.be/RUmbIXIVmTU

For this trip, the trip leader will pick a cohesive group of participants whose vehicles comply with all the requirements.

Cost $5000 - a deposit will be payable in 2022.
