Departing Sydney on Friday morning and returning late Sunday afternoon, join in on 2 nights of star gazing in the Warrumbungles NP just outside of Coonabarrabran. There will be NO 4x4ing. Warrumbungles NP is a designated ‘Dark Sky Park’ which means guests are asked to keep man-made light sources to a minimum.

Looking to camp at Camp Blackman. Powered and un-powered sites available. If you’ve got a telescope, bring it along or just enjoy the Milky Way in all its glory with the naked eye. https://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/camping-and-accommodation/campgrounds/camp-blackman

There is an amenities block, picnic tables, barbecue facilities, drinking water, public phone, showers, toilets at Camp Blackman

Other Information Needed: Each person will need to book their own site via the National Parks website. Please book in early and confirm with Houssayne via text once you have booked your site. It is a 5 hour drive from Wyong services to Camp Blackman (non-stop) so we will need to build in 2 stops as a driver reviver and for fuel top ups for those who need it. These stops will be flexible based on needs on the day.

What  This uniquely Australian Festival consists of an array of events that celebrate everything “country”.  Showcasing our heritage, history, art and age-old skills that are still widely used today.  Our music, poetry and our love for this amazing part of the world.  Plus, the love and respect for our animals is all celebrated and on show for you to enjoy.

Leader: Michael de Zwart and Dave Wrbik

    Phone: 0408 467066

    Grade:

Numbers:   6 max including leaders (restricted by campsite limits)

Trailers: Yes, full Australian made only. No caravans as not permitted on Central Arnhem Road.

    What:

Base camping at Nhulumbuy and Lorella Springs.

At Nhulumbuy you will have the option to partake in day trips or to do your own thing.

Lorella Springs will be a mixture of day trips and overnight stays to the more remote locations on the property or you may want to relax in the thermal pools at base camp instead.

Nhulumbuy and Lorella Springs base camps include full amenities along with options to purchase meals. The remaining camp sites range from no facilities to full facilities.

As Nhulumbuy and its surrounds become more popular along with its low number of campsites we have been advised to book asap. Areas outside of the township are controlled by the Dhimurru Aboriginal Corporation and such require a permit to access including their campsites which attract additional fees, both are nonrefundable and nontransferable.

    Minimum fuel range required 550km.

If there is enough interest, we can hold a meeting to run through the itinerary and answer any questions.

You can contact Michael directly for a more detailed itinerary.

A second group of 6 can run parallel if numbers require.

    Need:

Then onto Kakadu NP, including Gunlom Falls, Jim Jim Falls to name a few, then Jabiru and up to Cobourg Peninsula. Back to Jabiru, Mary R. NP, Litchfield NP, Katherine, Daly Waters, Cape Crawford, King Ash Bay, Hells Gate Roadhouse and onto Lawn Hill NP (Adels Grove). There is a mixture of both caravan parks and bush camping.

There are a number of locations for both fuel and food throughout the trip mostly from a general store, not a supermarket.
